Despicable Me,' 'Inception' Top Home Video Sales Charts

Universal Studios Home Entertainment's Despicable Me finished atop the VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week ending Dec. 26, its second consecutive week in the top spot.

The animated hit outpaced Warner Home Video's Inception, which in its third week in stores sold 64.4 percent as many copies as Despicable Me. However, Inception did top the VideoScan Blu-ray Sales chart, as 42 percent of all copies of the film sold were in the high-def format, compared to 23 percent of Despicable Me.
But because both of those films are among several new releases delayed by 28 days to Netflix and Redbox, a batch of titles from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment landed high on the rental chart. Finishing No. 1 was the newly released thriller Salt, followed by new release Easy A at No. 2 and the previous week's top rental, The Other Guys, at No. 3.
Salt was the top-selling new release, landing at No. 3 in both total disc sales and Blu-ray sales; 39% of the film's sales were in the Blu-ray format.
